Heard bad things and one thing from Josh so far :((

 

I had fun watching this as well. Less fun than I’d hoped, but like, idk. I left the theater successfully entertained.

 

This wasn’t bad just pretty forgettable. Felt half baked.

 

The bad things were correct.

 

Also did not realize until the opening credits that the actress playing Robin in One Piece was in it. She was good. Definitely one of the better performances

yeah, very scattershot and difficult to be interested in anyone in the film, try as margaret qualley might. this was a shrug

 

Booked a screening on A-List and then ended up napping on my couch and missed it lol

joel is the visionary who makes solo movies that look incredible and are relatively dry and ethan is the zippy writer who makes movies that look like they should air on quibi

 

point being nothing is more clear how desperately they need each other to make anything watchable than watching any of their stuff apart

 

I think they should keep doing what they want

 

well sure

but if what they want to do is make stuff that is good they should stop doing what they are doing

 

I bet they’re happy with what they’ve made

That is probably too simplistic a way to look at it. If it was true part of Joel Coen would have wanted to jettison his brother a long time ago so people could see his genius a long time ago. A lot of times in these things the whole is more than the sum of its parts.

 

Joel Coen and Tricia Cooke should make a movie together.
