Killed three bosses today! Only have a handful left in act 2 unraveled was particularly fun. Probably my second or third favorite act 2 boss behind maybe second sentinel and definitely cogwork dancers In other news I found out about damage modifiers today what a baffling mechanic that explains why the needle upgrades don't feel as impactful as they should
i started up Hollow Knight again, kinda. I had a save that was 52 minutes in so i just picked it up from there. have dash and wall climb already. there's so many charms to buy early game, wowzers
holy shit i beat Soul Master on the first try. that took at least a couple dozen tries last time. Maybe i am just a better gamer now. like, in addition to skill and muscle memory or whatever, i must've just been better prepared, i have two nail upgrades and dream shield already
Got what I assume is the last of the Act 3 macguffins, so now it's just cleaning up Wishes and collectibles before I'm off to the final boss.
I genuinely think Silksong is so much harder than the original game that a lot of its harder bosses now feel easier by comparison
I've finally beaten all of the optional bosses and done all of the side content I cared about, so I'm at the final boss. So far, it hasn't made me as frustrated as flea juggling did.
Finished act 2. Compared to some of the other bosses GMS really wasn't bad at all. Only took like five tries. Granted I had maxed pretty much everything out before fighting her. Not really sure what is says about me that raging conchfly was the hardest act 2 boss.
folks I am thoroughly stuck on the act 3 final boss if anyone has tips. I’ve been through all the phases just can’t seem to finish em off
I saved tacks and cogflies for phase 4 ( where she starts doing the circles attack) and just focused on dodging from that point onward
to reiterate the biggest piece of advice that’s already been thoroughly covered: if you are stuck on something come post about it here and you will immediately get over that hurdle. Just finished act 3 and this was easily one of the most incredible gaming experiences of my life. But holy shit am I happy to put this game down for a while.
I definitely struggled with Hollow Knight A LOT more than Silksong. But yeah maybe that’s just because I’m better now.
The best thing I've told myself any time I've had a tough time with any boss is to remember to be patient. It's very easy to fall into the trap of playing aggressively and diving in for hits that are just going to result in you taking hits yourself
Act 3 done. I think it's safe to say that this is the most time I've ever put into a Metroidvania haha. I certainly had some issues throughout, but this still might be the best of the genre imo. It can't be understated just how incredible the movement in this game felt and how much of a joy it was just to explore, let alone fight any of the bosses. To me, the difficulty struck such a perfect balance where nothing ever felt insurmountable, but there was a healthy degree of challenge throughout. Gonna be thinking about Silksong for a long time.
in my most recent Hollow Knight save i have 3/3 soul vessels and 10/11 charm notches but only 8/9 masks. i could do the stupid flower delivery quest orrrrr i could load up another save that has all masks but is missing some soul vessels and/or charm notches. or i could put the game down and actually focus on Veilguard haha. i'm not really even sure what my goal was when i started this playthrough, bc i'm not about to try to beat the final boss or White Palace again, i remember how frustrating those were. i've already gotten over 100% in at least one save file, i just wanted to revisit Hallownest, and now that I have, i think i'm good. i'm all platformer'ed out. Silksong is ofc the better game, there's more quests to do, more dialogue with some truly emotional character moments, more playstyles to try with crests/tools, and, as difficult as they are, the bosses are just better. but Hollow Knight is still a perfect metroidvania and laid the foundation for everything that came after. Silksong just happens to be, uh, more perfect.
Defeated Last Judge and into Act 2. Idk I might call it here. I’m proud of getting this far and have had a lot of fun. However I get so frustrated sometimes and I have kinda gathered that act 3 is a re tread? Doesn’t sound for me.
Act three had some of my favorite boss fights. The game gets easier the more options you have (tools/crests). Plus I do genuinely think the story is very good and gets surprisingly emotional at times
