I know git gud etc but this has been a pretty frustrating experience so far. Enemies are super tanky, grinding for rosaries is a slog and the amount you find vs what you need to spend is extremely uneven. The constant run backs to a boss that does insane damage is very tedious. Early game just doesn’t feel balanced, hoping it improves
Made some pretty big progress map-wise today. I have some advice but I'd like to spoiler tag it and I don't know how haha. Can someone help me out?
I think if all they did was take away the double mask thing I'd be happy. I'm sure there's something SOMEWHERE to nullify damage but I haven't found it yet haha
fuck, just nerf the contact damage. I shouldn’t lose two masks because I touched a STAGGERED BOSS that’s just bad design
This has been a non-insignificant amount of my Moorwing deaths lol edit: beat him nearly hitless in my next attempt, complaining helps I guess
I think the game’s difficulty is massively overtuned. I’ve been begging for a game that is this hard because every game lately has barely managed to hold my attention since I didn’t feel challenged (notably I was expecting way more from wuchang) but this is really hitting the spot. But I totally recognize that for some people this must be infuriating. I’m sorry I know this sounds annoying I’m not trying to be patronizing fourth chorus down.
The boss double damage worries me, but at least it seems like benches are closer to them than they were before
The problem with starting you off with 5 masks and the bosses doing 2 damage is exasperated by the fact that even if you were to get an extra masks you’d still go down in 3 hits lol. Diabolical. that said if you look at it less like its own game and more like shadow of the erdtree then the difficulty is on par imo. and as for benches being closer… my sweet summer child. I have a run back right now that’s easily 5 minutes.
I was having a similar thought re: SotE. Like this feels like an attempt to put people who have 1000 hours in the game on a bit more of an even playing field with the rest of us haha. in general I get more souls-y vibes I think just for that sense of something waiting to fuck you over at every turn lol
If there’s any rebalancing I hope it’s optional, I’m also really enjoying the difficulty where it’s at
I’m not sure if the tools are just OP or what, but my traps shredded Savage Beastfly. It only got one summon off before it died. I do have the Crafting Kit which I think makes tools stronger but I’m not 100%. The ambush room in Hunters March took me a good minute to beat mostly due to the long ass run back.
This is basically all I’ve been doing in my free time the past several days and so from the comments I can tell I am really far beyond a lot of you and I don’t want to spoil stuff for anyone, but I feel the need to say that it absolutely does *not* get easier lol. Getting extra abilities does help a massive ton with mobility which is crucial for boss fights and just exploring in general, and now the earlier sections feel like an absolute breeze to me, but goddamn these bosses and even tons of just misc enemies are *so* much harder than in Hollow Knight. And the distance required to travel to some of them often involves having to go through a ton of enemies. BUT I’ve yet to come across anyone I flatly haven't been able to beat yet. There were multiple where I lost so many times that I considered just leaving and coming back to it later, but I always manage to learn their patterns well enough and beat them. Same with some of these ridiculously hard platforming areas
Usually this game goes from thinking "this is impossible" to "I beat the boss without getting hit once" very quickly. Just learn it and keep going! For me the hardest fight so far after beating the first 4 bosses was just the random fat bug with the sword. Probably died 15 times on that guy.
just walking around in the opening area felt surreal. I'm about 25 hours in. constantly kicking my ass but I haven't had this much fun playing a game since... Hollow Knight?
