Really enjoyed Caveat and Oddity was very striking even if I didn't love it quite as much. Here for this.
I thought this was fantastic and surprised the reactions aren't more enthusiastic. The story was gripping from beginning to end, good jump scares (I haven't jumped out of my seat in ages), and some excellent tense sequences.
I loved this. I may be extra enthusiastic because I had an awful day and really enjoyed seeing this with a group of friends, but I thought it was close to perfect - the inverse of Longlegs where there are a few odds and ends that aren't fully explained, but it adds to the film instead of feeling cobbled together to me. McCarthy is very good at translating old-school haunted house scares into his specific modern visual style. He really knows how to create some striking imagery. My biggest gripe is that the female characters were nothing more than plot devices. Still, a great time at the theater.
This was good but felt uneven. Loved the honeymoon suite section that felt like a resident evil game.
