Also was not expecting the singles to be the clear singles here- everything else is subversively challenging and I love it
Yeah this is pretty great. Wasn't keen on the EP but they captured me back with Boys and the whole album rules. Definitely sounds like a natural progression from Bambi
Saw them live in Philly 2 nights ago. They sounded incredible but I do have one gripe. They only played one song off of Bambi (title track)!
EP is just further reassurance this band is one of the best around yippie ki yay needs to be a live staple going forward
Saw them live a couple of months ago and haven’t stopped listening since. LP3 is so good and Yippie Ki Yay is def one of their best songs. That final chorus where he sings up an octave is so good.
New album is out today. It sounds immaculate but is kinda boring, imo. Reminds me a lot of when Bad Suns put out Mystic Truth. A very straightforward indie rock record that has good songs but strips away anything unique about the band.
I think I agree, but less because of the production and more because of the songwriting. I think they’re at their best in their big pop anthems (Way It Goes, Bambi, Semi-Pro, etc) or their weird left turns on albums (Blew Its, Bubbles, etc) and this album only has like 1 or 2 of the former and none of the latter.
I like the album. I feel like it's probably their most "intimate" sounding album. Easy listen, but nothing really sticks out. Paranoid still one of their best songs imo.
Love the idea and concept behind the album. Disappointing result - feels uninspired and too laidback for my tastes. Hope they continue and find an audience for this - the Wasteland EP was underrated
