Based off the singles and that I have tickets to see them for the first time in the spring, this is an AOTY contender for me for sure
Incredible album. Not to be hyperbolic, but Understand might be the best song ever written. I'm also extremely convinced that Semi-Pro was originally written for Landmark the more and more I listen to it.
I've enjoyed everything this band has ever put out. That said, this may be their best. Going to be on repeat for aaaawhile.
Really enjoyed it on 1st listen. Like a lot of indie bands, i get disappointed when the guitars get pushed further back into the mix, so I'm drawn to ashtray but overall, the whole album seems solid.
@whitenblue88 same thing I was thinking. Listened through 3 times this morning. Whole album is fantastic, but man once it hits Semi-Pro, it just takes off and never looks back.
Cant wait for them to do a glass animals and get a grammy nod for best new artist multiple albums in.
They should just go full Glass Animals and have one of these songs randomly blow up in like September of 2023
I love this song but it's the most vampire weekend non vampire song ever. It sounds identical to them at the beginning that everyone I've played it to has said 'is this vampire weekend?' (Admittedly that's like 3 people but still). I think Listerine definitely has the chance to blow up with the dark lyrics and it being so catchy. I'd say boys as well but I actually dislike that song a little bit as the melody is too close to that chain smokers song (closer). Whenever I am reminded of another song, it's hard for me to like it.
Dark horse candidate: the first breakdown in “2 Young 2 Die” where they first say “everyone thinks that they’re too young to die” blows up on TikTok and that one is their big song
3 million spotify plays a month is definitely already a pretty decent number and puts them above a lot of their genre peers, and at least as far as fir my city, their upcoming tour is hitting the biggest venue out of all the 'mid-sized' ones so they're doing pretty well. Definitely a band I've enjoyed watching grow and evolve. Always positives steps in my opinion. Had this album on all day and not a bad song.
Same here. Saw them a couple times when they played in Philly in smaller rooms. Now they've upgraded to the Fillmore, which is one of the bigger mid sized ones for sure. Amped to see how they've evolved their live show as well.
Boys is one of my faves on the album, with the bridge/outro being one of the highs. The melody kinda sorta resembles closer, but isnt a rip off by any means.
Damn this is really good huh? Just looked on Spotify and had no idea this band was a big as they are. Rightfully so.
Feels like this band is single-handedly maintaining and carrying the torch from a foregone era, and capturing those feelings in spades. So glad they’re finally capturing their potential. They had this in them for the longest time
