There were some really random albums that really connected with me this year that I didn't see coming at all (Rich Brian, Jaden), and some profound disappointments from artists I usually love like ScHoolboy Q, Big KRIT, Chance, and Kanye that I would be shocked to not see on this list a year ago

That Dave isn’t on this list is a shame

 

I’m surprised Wiki is so high. He’s always been one of those names that are mentioned occasionally on here, but no one ever really gushed over him like other artists.

 

NMiM got a lot of attention here

 

Plus his new album is actually better imo than NMiM

also talk to me in like a year and im sure ill say MAVI had best album of 2019. every listen it grows on me, but still havent consumed it all that much

 

Yours was the only list with it actually. Would have made mine if we expanded to 20, I think.

 

One record I was surprised to see on no one's list was Megan Thee Stallion, I thought people were really into it this year. Again, one that would have made my 20.

 

Even though I kept pounding that drum all year smh you all never listen to me

 

Also my top 20 probably. I haven’t spent enough time with it.

 

I just find British accents in hip hop really off-putting

But I'm allowed to say that because I'm British lol

 

There’s certain German or Dutch regional accents that will also put me off no matter how good the rapper is otherwise

 

It's especially London accents for me, probably because I'm surrounded by it all day I don't want to hear it when I'm listening to music lol. It only bothers me with rapping though. Doesn't bother me at all with singing. I know I'm weird lol

Feel like clipping. should definitely be up higher on the list. It has grown so much on me and it's one I could see being my favorite from this year. Crazy beats going on and lyrics are fucking awesome. I had never really listened to them before, but damn, they are super talented.

 

Listened to Mavi again this morning, might be my number one

 

Just listened to the Gang Starr record. Holy wow-- it's a stunner. How did I miss this when it came out?
