I hadn't listened to him in ages, but I got comp tickets so I went to see Immortal Technique last night. It was surprisingly good.

    hey you lil piss baby

Thoughts for the aggregate list idea I proposed:

Thinking 10 to 15 records per list (I'd like to settle on a number more concretely depending on what people want to do)
Records will be scored in inverse of their position (#1=10 pts, #2=9 pts or whatever, depending on how many we are doing)
You can submit an unranked list, in which case every record will be assigned the same amount of points (for a top 10, I was thinking 5 pts each)
Feel free to include multiple projects by a single artist on your list, but each record must occupy its own space
    Submit by December 10?

Feel free to dispute any of this or add anything I may have forgotten!

I reckon 15 is do-able. There have been a hell of a lot of good releases this year.

Saying that, I've probably got a top 20 haha

I think 15 is a good number. 20 seems like it might dilute things a bit and 10 doesn't seem like quite enough.

Yeah, 15 is just right to get a good points tally.

Anyone who includes Kanye is automatically disqualified ;-)

if you can't come up with 15 records better than Jesus is King then your opinions on music are garbage

I just realized there isn’t even 10 hip hop albums from this year that I love. Definitely need to go through your lists

    Anyone listen to Saint JHN?

I never heard of him until last week. He was playing in Columbus and my buddy offered me a free ticket the night before the show because I was there for work. Listened to quite a bit of his stuff that night and thought it was solid. I ended up leaving Columbus before the show due to really bad weather forecasts back home for the following day but been listening to him quite a bit since then and enjoying.

I’m fully expecting RTJ4 to pop up at around Christmas Day again and fuck up my list.

Is this just for albums? Because there are a few decent EPs that could easily match up to some albums. EG: Earl

    beautiful and chequered, the end

I might of missed it, but are we keeping this strictly to hard RAP? Where we stand with RnB? There is a lot of crossover that can happen.

Anything goes. Definitely should have used the 2019 term “project” instead lol

I was wondering this myself and I think maybe just use your own discretion? The basis is definitely rap/hip-hop but if it logically fits among the rest it should be fine. But idk if like a Tinashe or Kehlani record would belong. But I’d be curious to hear what others say.

I mean, most post-80s R&B is clearly hip hop, just not rap. On here however we usually have kept it separated, so maybe we should also do it for this list. Unless there are some edge cases.

I mean, the only edge cases I can think of are those that rap and sing like Anderson .Paak. But even his album the year barely featured him rapping, so I would say just stick to straight up rap.

I don’t know, I think some artists are edge cases because they sing-rap

I always class sing-rappers as RnB.
