New Maxo Kream is fantastic. Punken was already really good but Brandon Banks feels truly major.

Does the fact that so much comes out so quickly add to the argument that there hasn't been a truly classic album for so long? Easier access to music must play an impact too.

I feel inclined to agree that artists put out new projects too quickly and don’t let releases gestate. Hell, look in any given Young Thug thread to see how many people are talking about how he is “finally“ going to put out a new record, barely two years removed from his last album, and that’s only if you’re not counting Slime Language as a YT solo release. That’s the paradigm shift, baby!

Conversely, Freddie Gibbs put out four records in the first past three years and it’s all quality, so maybe I’m a hypocrite.

The older I get the less time and/or patience I have to properly listen to music so that is part of it

I'm kind of the same. Unless i'm really excited about a release or enough people whose opinions I trust like it, I tend to avoid a lot of new music these days.

Damn, Megan killed it there. I havent really gotten into anything from her yet, but that was great. Honestly the YK Osiris one was pretty cool too. The DaBaby one lasted pretty much half the entire video ha

From that little teaser you could tell who would be good in the cypher, half of these freshman list rappers never end up anywhere in a year or two. Meghan definitely has staying power.

Very curious what Tierra Whack does for the cypher, I was bummed she didn’t do a freestyle. Seems like more people than usual didn’t do the solo freestyle this year, but they’re admittedly almost always terrible. Most everyone they pick these last few years are better studio artists that straight up rappers.

I wish they would just do it where they have a producer work with every artist on a freestyle beat because half these beats are blah.
