Same haha. Is there another rapper called AI, though? Or are kids just really excited by the concept of artificial intelligence?

Also ot7quanny feels like you’ve typed something, misspelt it badly and the spellcheck doesn’t bother to try and correct it

I assumed AI meant Allen Iverson?

I meant Iverson, I was trying to think of another Philly legend and can’t use Kobe or Will Smith anymore

The Jay-Z relationship was definitely part of it but sounds like Irv would have signed him regardless. Saw this video today about the potential signing where Irv says Nas just kind of…disappeared. And he also asked Nas to do some corny gimmick that Nas wasn’t a fan of and says he lost him after that.

Did Kendrick say or do anything that was directed at Trump during the performance?

Not Trump specifically but the imagery and Sam Jackson's segments felt like political commentary for sure

So Trump was there and instead he - of all rappers - went after only Drake once again? And this is the best Hip Hop can do in 2025? He’s the flag bearer? I guess Trump was happy though, after all Drake is from Canada, the new enemy.

EDIT: If there was symbolism, then good on him for at least that, but Trump was right there man. I’m pretty sure that some others who have held Kendrick’s position in rap in the past would have said or done something in this situation.

Kendrick’s “revolution will not be televised” seems accurate when he went on TV and did nothing revolutionary.

I am a little disappointed he wasn’t more forthright with his message but whatever. I’m thrilled there was the Palestinian and Sudan flag dude but it’s unclear (and will likely remain unclear) if that can be chalked up to Kendrick.

It's pretty clear Kendrick's team had nothing to do with it.

Just because they denied it doesn’t really prove anything.

It doesn't make sense as something for them to be involved with. If they wanted to incorporate a statement like that, why not...put it directly in the show? why let the guy get detained, banned etc?

I get that people want Kendrick to speak up on all kinds of things but like it or not the only statement he really had any interest in making clearly was "I'm the best and I still hate Drake btw"

I will say that all the attempts I’m seeing on social media at unpacking the symbolism has been cringeworthy at best. I’m not sure if that’s due to the performance or otherwise. I kind of just wish he would have used his platform without any subtlety or room for interpretation.
