  1. I still really dig weight of the world, but his output from Disco! on has for sure felt like he’s riding a different wave

  3. Wish I liked that album more. The songs I like I really like, but there’s also a lot that does very little for me. Still, huge to learn about her win tonight. Looking forward to how this effects the genre in the mainstream

If you haven't, check out her run of singles from before the mixtape. I think they are WAY stronger and show enormous promise and all this is well deserved. I do like the mixtape but I'm way way way more excited for her proper album debut

  5. I haven’t ! Was only put on last year, I’ll dive back

  6. Persuasive and Crazy were the ones pre-her latest project. I’m still mad those will certainly end up being orphaned singles.

What It Is (Solo Version) is one of the best pop songs of the last few years, and shows her range, what a fuckkkkin tune

  9. Ah right, I remember her saying it would still end up on her debut album at the time, same with Crazy but sadly TDE had other plans

technically just the remix ended up on a project, with the solo version being a loosie, but that's just semantics

I don’t think this is an official release but a group uploaded a bunch of gangsta grillz tapes for now

Oh God. This is rough. He was the driving force behind things that meant a lot to me. Things that changed my life. You could say I probably wouldn’t have met my wife without Irv Gotti. This hurts. R.I.P. DJ Irv.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

I'll give it a whirl, I still enjoy Carter V

Yeah the Carter releases have remained pretty good and his other output still has bright spots

This is a good overview. It's an urban myth that the beef with 50 ended the run of Murder Inc. They put out big Ja Rule and Ashanti albums after the height of the beef. What ended the run of Murder Inc. and its artists was the FBI. That’s worth remembering.

Unsurprisingly, this is really good. Alc's beats for Larry are always great.

I remember rumors in the early 2000s that Nas was going to sign with Murder Inc.

It was a pretty big deal at the time, but then they just ultimately released The Pledge (super underrated song).

There are conflicting stories as to why it fell apart (though it appears to be them not wanting to burn bridges with Jay Z in the end, because he was pissed) but the signing was definitely very close to done when it did.

Another fun signing: Vanessa Carlton. Irv Gotti ended up producing her album, with Rick Rubin and someone else I think. Now that is wild to me.

DMC is scheduled to come talk at my school in two weeks. The kids have no idea who the fuck he is lol it’s such a bummer.

Also ot7quanny is related to one of my students and showed up to her basketball game the other night and you would have thought AI walked through the door
