I think USee4Yourself is really good and often great. F65 is way too bloated, but the highs are since of his best. The rest hasn't done much for me but he sounds rejuvenated on this new one and the production is killer, good variety throughout

The IDK album is fine. He’s not a very interesting rapper, so is frequently outshone by the features.

The Roc Marci album is much better. Great beats and great rhymes.

This is true, the first time I actually felt moved to concentrate on the rapping I quickly realised that it was the Black Thought part that was playing

Today I learned there was a Jim jones remix of day n nite and I felt pretty knowledgeable back then

new roc marciano is better than almost everything I heard last year. something to be said for being completely the product of one guy (save for the two guest verses), the credit lists on some major rap albums are hilariously inflated.

This is beautiful because I saw some of you turn into fellow old heads before my very eyes on here

  14. There’s been a lot of discussion about it in the Accountability In Music thread over the last 24ish hrs, not entirely sure how productive it has been because I hit my capacity for reading Kanye takes on this site a long time ago

Apologies if you were already aware of that conversation and were more looking for a smaller one among hip hop thread heads!

edit: also seeing now that the article you posted is even more recent than yesterday, my bad!

Yeah I’m not in that thread, but I figured people talked about it, I indeed was more curious about it within the Hip Hop thread context

I see people in the Accountability Thread have more ... nuanced, compassionate responses than mine. I simply don't believe his apology.

This might sound weird, but I had family members that went through the Swiss mental health facility system, and they do really good work, so that was something that made me a little open to it

The best thing he could do right now is distribute his wealth, step away from all public platforms, and reprioritize his private life entirely focused on restoration. But I really don't think that'll happen, because he's not like anyone else--he's a billionaire and that changes everything.

No apology will ever let me forget the shit he's said and done. Without taking actions similar to what Ooty suggested, I'll never give him an ounce of my attention again.

Not only that, and I get maybe this is terrible to suggest, but he’s got an album coming out. Is this not the “best” way to get the attention back on him, win public favor, and use his mental health as spectacle (once again) to promote his album? We’ve seen this before.

I listened to the new j Cole “songs” and once again they are just fine. Some great choices for classic beats

I saw some silly comments about how his lyricism is too good and they are just reworded lines other rappers already used so I was like huh lol.
