Maybe I’m nuts but I’m just not hearing “lush” beats on the new Vince. They are unusual beats for him, very shallow, unsubstantial, to-the-point. When I think of Vince, unique production comes to mind, but a lot of these beats feel more casual, for a more straightforward style. I could imagine other rappers over these beats. But I think I’ll listen again today focusing more on the lyrics and really tune into the production. I want it to grow on me.

 

BFT is cool, but for some reason when I want to listen to, uh, electronic-hop, I tend to go European

 

It's definitely a record to sit back to - or drive to - and listen to the words

Method Man is still one of the best rappers alive

 

This is where I'm at. Vince is one of my favorite rappers but I'm having a hard time getting into this new "mellow" style he has. The self-titled grew on me because I love the production but this new one the beats are soo generic (with a few exceptions) and I'm having a harder time getting into it

I actually wasn't that crazy about FM either (I liked but didn't love it) so I guess I might actually just be a massive fan of 2013-2017 Vince

I want to once again recommend the Paul Wall x Termanology album. It’s just a really fun rap record. The old heads especially should get on it.

I wish more big artists or big catalogs could fight back like this as well, streaming revenue is abysmal and there's no reason to believe it will change anytime soon
