The 90s Bad Boy kind of sampling was definitely close to being covering songs, on purpose

 

clipping covering Tipsy is another good example. they changed some lyrics iirc but didn't overhaul the whole song

 

I read this and thought there must be another Tipsy than the one I am thinking of but no, this is really real

 

Tipsy was such cool song man, I was surprised he wasn’t able to stick around

 

All his ad libs and stuff are signature stuff too that he kind of ties into everything, his videos are amazing, marketing genius but the music is amazing too! I think the last album probably was more official and would do better with people here but this new stuff just makes me wanna chill out and vibe

 

Maybe the most consistent rapper that actually has a long and growing discography

 

I like everything I’ve heard by Common but never really gave him a deep dive like he probably deserves.

 

Common is incredibly consistent, even the most recent ones

 

UMC is the only misstep I can think of

Be and Finding Forever are personal classics

 

This is exactly right. I haven’t heard it since it came out though. Maybe it’s fine.

“Can I Borrow A Dollar?” is cool, but it wasn’t really fully Common yet.

 

starting to get really into Benny and Conway today. Westside is... a bit of a harder sell but I still see the appeal I think

 

One his voice clicks it's smooth sailing. Pray for Paris is unreal good

 

yeah Pray for Paris is what I started with, his energy and sample choices are on point but the voice is a definite hurdle

will try and get into him again when I can stop just listening to The Plugs I Met on repeat

 

Until recently I thought Westside was easily the best at putting together full projects, his beat selection is immaculate and he’s amazing at curating a set aesthetic for a whole album. Lately though Conway is just firing on all cylinders and I think has passed him with his last two albums though (still haven’t gotten around to Tana Talk 4)

 

The last 2 Conway records are my favorites of all the Griselda stuff (that I've heard; I'm sure I've missed plenty)

 

Repeated plug for Boldy's Manger on McNichols! On a whole other level than the other Griselda stuff, as much as I like them too

 

Can't argue with that. Boldy is fantastic too.

 

I'm not as into the whole Griselda thing as most of you are, but Benny just happens to be exactly my kind of rapper

Yeah I like Benny a whole lot, Conway and Westside are a little more hit and miss for me. This newest Conway is great though for sure

Boldy is obviously super talented but man I struggle with his voice. so unengaging. maybe it'll grow on me, Wes already has

 

I saw Boldy open for the Bronson/Earl tour and I was actually blown away by his stage presence, it barely even sounded like the same rapper. I love his music anyway but I wish he put some of that live energy into his actual recordings sometimes

 

Tana Talk is good, but man Tyson vs. Ali gets so grating haha
