The fact there has been very little fanfare and no promotion from El suggests to me we have another Organised Konfusion situation. Although it’s on both Apple AND Spotify, so…

I just saw Action Bronson, Earl, Boldy James and The Alchemist tonight and it was a fucking amazing show. Bronson is so much fun live and has so much energy and charisma, and Boldy was actually way better live than I thought, he has a ton more energy onstage than he does on his albums

I really wanted to go to that show, but it's the same night as another can't miss show and the tickets for Bronson are like 4x as much so...

 

I apologize for how naive this post sounds but watching the half time show has made me realize I haven't been listening to much hip hop lately so I wanna get back into it. Kendrick is one of my all time favs so I've been playing his albums but I'm gonna lurk this thread more, wanna find some new artists/records from the last couple years to lose myself in

Edit: gonna start with Armand Hammer since they were on the new Earl

 

Armand Hammer is two guys, Elucid and Billy Woods, they both have a bunch of great solo stuff too. I’d recommend the new Isaiah Rashad if you like Kendrick.

 

New Isaiah Rashad and new Saba are great entries back into this genre. Maybe also check out Genesis Owusu and Mick Jenkins

 

Strongly recommend Alfredo, and if you enjoy that, Bandana

Absolutely. Imo he hasn’t topped Piñata yet. Though I give him/madlib credit for Bandanna being a lot different than P.

 

I just read that Fivio Foreign is signed to Columbia through RichFish Records, which apparently is owned by Mase. So that is what he has been up to.

 

always thought I was the minority preferring Bandana to Pinata lol, all I see is adoration for the latter

also Earthgang are dropping this Friday allegedly. believe it when I see it lol

 

The new Mach-Hommy album (EP?) samples the milkshake scene from There Will Be Blood. Nice.

I’ve started to dive more into Griselda and while I feel like Benny the Butcher is the best all around member. I just hear those Westside Gunn adlibs and I get so hyped. His verses always have something clever and quoteable.

i just live this luxury rap.

 

While Westside is pretty obviously the weakest rapper of the three I actually like his solo material the most, he has an incredible ear for beats and his albums always have an amazing aesthetic and feel to them

I'd actually say Benny is my least favorite if I have to pick one but he's still amazing. Conway is just an amazing lyricist

Mach-Hommy might be my favorite. His albums last year and his one this year are really good.
