honestly the IDK album might be my favorite hip hop release of the year, one of the few that really stuck with me

Tyler and Mach-Hommy were probably my favorites, none of the others really blew me away

  10. 1. R.A.P. Ferreira - Bob’s Son
    2. Vince Staples - Vince Staples
    3. Navy Blue - Navy’s Reprise

    8. Tanya Morgan - Don & Von
    9. MIKE - Disco!
    10. R.A.P. Ferreira - The Light Emitting Diamond Cutter Scriptures

Just barely missing the cut here are Wiki and Kenny Mason

Taking the @PauLo approach and sliding the second Ferreira record in the last slot, knowing that in time it’ll creep up the list. Haven’t had time to absorb it yet but it cant go without being acknowledged! On my main list I’m gonna just combine them, I know that’s cheating but w/e god ain’t looking

Couple good songs on the Big Boi/Sleepy Brown. “Return of the Dope Boi” brought me straight back to the early 2000’s, one of the best on there.

In all seriousness, I am surprised by the lack of the more melodic singy auto-tuned rap on the lists this year. Has there been a lull or are people not listening to it as much any more?

  23. Personally that’s never really been my thing and was a big deterrent from me participating in the hip hop threads on AP and here in the early years. Polo G and Lil Uzi Vert were kind of anomalies for me and even then I got sick of them pretty quick

There’s a noticeable lack of that and of monotone trap (I use this phrase without meaning it in a bad way)
