Jesus Lord really is a pretty legit "gospel rap" song

To be fair, most of the crowd knew the words and was singing pretty loudly.

I'm honestly surprised people are finding some much to like from Donda (musically)

Maybe my personal feelings are getting in the way, but I really can't get into any of it.

I don’t even give him a chance. If I even contributed 0.003p or whatever an artist gets from Spotify per track, I’d feel like a piece of shit.

These posts aside, I’m glad the K*nye talk has been kept out of here.

  10. Really don't want to lean into this conversation again but my partner, who does not currently have the time or emotional capacity to keep up with the context surrounding Kanye or Donda, has found a lot of comfort in songs like 24 as she navigates the one-year anniversary passing of her grandfather, and to infer that she or anyone else is a piece of shit for finding that level comfort in a song regardless of who made it is a huge part of why I take issue with the way this site handles problematic artists. Some people care more about cornering users into feeling bad for having a different take or experience than they do about the literal person they're talking to who very likely agrees with them

the way these conversations unfold on this website is absolutely nothing like how people talk to each other and about things in real life, like at all, its kind of baffling

I don't think talking about this album at all (even positively) on a niche music website that only a very small percentage of people frequent and has very little relevance IRL is worth getting up in arms about like people have been endlessly. I also don't think whether you stream or not means anything, dude is still a billionaire and will have tons of money regardless. He's gonna get that stream money one way or another.

Also to reiterate again the people discussing the album are not the ones who need to be lectured about Kanye being a bad person, most of them are regular posters in the accountability thread

I actually didn’t know I posted that here, it was meant for the Kanye thread precisely for this reason lol

Kanye's actions have been getting progressively worse since 2016 and I don't blame anyone for making the personal choice not to support him anymore but he has been such a pivotal artist in my life that I can't imagine ever dropping his old music from my life or not checking out a new album by him. I know that's really bad on this site but whatever. Not gonna get too in depth with my thoughts I guess but I really fucking like this album for the most part besides a few obvious glaring issues (the censoring, the weird Pop Smoke interlude, the horrific existence of Jail pt 2)

No way am I posting in that thread though

I just can’t imagine why you’d want to listen to music of a slavery denying, Trump supporting dickhead who puts a homophobe, a rapist and a woman beater on their on their album.

I just can’t separate the art from the artist. That’s all. If others can, so be it. More power to you.

Fuck sake, this is the reason I try not to post in that fucking thread and why I was hoping talk of it wouldn’t end up in here.

Y’all spending more time with the new GRIP album? It’s not quite at Snubnose level for me (his 2019 project that’s an unheralded classic to me) but really great throughout and I’m still untangling some of the concept. Perfect project for folks who are waiting on the JID album, for example.
