I've posted by Rarelyalways before, loved all his recent looseys and looking forward to his EP on Friday.

I fear he's another one that slips through the cracks because he's English.

Cormega is underrated and those unfamiliar with him should change that. This album is not the way to go though. It has some really good beats on it (some terrible ones too) and Cormega is still Cormega, but the sound quality is pretty bad (and not in a charming way).

Willenium is still the sprawling, confident post-Big Willie Style victory lap it always was. Not his most influential or his most consistent work, but probably my favorite. Also, fun fact: this was supposed to come out as a DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince album (Jeff is all over it), but the label said no.

Willenium has some bangers on it. Will always go to bat for that and Big Willie Style.

Willenium will always remind me of the Y2K panic and the world freaking out that electronics would all crash and burn simply because they year changed to 2000. Wild times, I wish that was the biggest worry of our nation.

Yeah. The other solo two albums, Lost & Found and Born to Reign have some good stuff and the latter is conceptually pretty interesting, but Big Willy Style and Willenium are still much better and the two solo albums people should actually check out.

Willenium takes more risks than BWS, and some of them don’t work (La Fiesta), but most actually do. Also the features are great.

Fittingly it has the only New Year’s Eve rap song on it that I can think of. I still listen to it every New Year’s Eve lol

I really should re-visit that album and Big Willie Styles, huh. It's been FOREVER but I used to jam to those as a kid all the time

“Let hip-hop keep blazing the charts/
May the past keep a warm spot in your heart/
May the future hold more joy then pain”

I mean what else could you possibly ask for

I think Big Willy Style, Willenium, He’s The DJ I‘m The Rapper, And In This Corner, Code Red and Jazzy Jeff’s first solo album The Magnificent are all must listens for different reasons.

They should put that Ladies First Cypher out as a song because it’s tremendous

God Clipping is so fucking good

I legit think Daveed Diggs should be on some best rapper lists. Not top 10 or anything but at least like 50

I keep trying to get into them but nothing is sticking, anyone have a few key tracks that might help?

They're more of a full abum-listen artist IMO, but try Run For Your Life, La Mala Ordina, The Show, Something Underneath, Check the Lock... all from their last two records, should give you a sense of the vibe.

I mean, I totally get why clipping. would be hard for people to get into. Harsh noise influenced hip hop is always gonna be a hard sell haha.

They're always (unfairly) get compared to Death Grips, but there's so much more to them than that. They're like is Merzbow or Whitehouse grew up amongst the Bay Area hip hop scene.
