I'd say they're the best hip duo of the past 10 years. But I may be biased as i've been a fan of El since Fantastic Damage.

 

American Gangster is up there for me too

90s and 2000s are the sweet spot for me. Right now I'm pretty out of touch other than the big ones

 

I would like to weigh in that if we're talking 90s UGK's Ridin Dirty has to be included

Love Jurassic 5. I first got into them either because "A Day At The Races" from the Tony Hawk Underground soundtrack or Chali 2na's feature on this LP track. Both tracks are still great.

That Reanimation low key had a lot of cool features and opened me up to a lot of hip-hop, which I wasn't super into at that age. Alchemist, Chali, Zion I, Black Thought, Evidence + DJ Babu, Pharoahe Monch, Aceyalone, Planet Asia.

 

I gotta admit, I kinda love SexBeat and am a bit surprised it didn't catch on

 

to tag onto the Chali 2na conversation, if you're a fan you gotta listen to the Ozomatli debut album from when he was a member

Ozomatli are amazing and this album is fire

 

RTJ loses me mostly in their production, but (aside from the message I guess) that's also why so many people love them.

 

RTJ is fine to me. There's a lot better out there but also a lot worse.

 

I really like El-P's flows and production. Him and Killer Mike both have great voices too.

 

Conway and Benny features on Alfredo are great.

 

Was listening to the new Conway The Machine album earlier this morning. Still need to listen to Alfredo.

 

R.A.P Music is the best RTJ album tbh. If EL-P just didnt rap id love RTJ so much more

 

I dunno. El-P can be a better rapper than Killer Mike sometimes.

I like Killer Mike and El-P but I don’t much care for RTJ. People should definitely check out their discographies. Especially Funcrusher Plus.

 

Haven’t listened to much Fahim, but Mach’s work with Muggs is fucking great.

 

I really like the whole crew's output

 

What would you recommend by them? Tha God Fahim alone has sooo much material...

I don't remember at this point what Fahim tapes I have/haven't listened to. Soul Dust is good. R.a.P Lord is good. Lost Kings was good. If you fuck with it, just start with the 2020 stuff lol.
