I don't only listen to recent stuff. There's a decent amount of 90s stuff I enjoy. The 00s gets lost on me outside of a few albums though

Is it controversial to say I enjoy Iron Man way more than any Wu-Tang album

I don't frequently listen to a lot of 80's rap, but the shit from the 90's is fucking incredible. You got Outkast, The Fugees, De La Soul, Lil Kim, Pharcyde, Snoop, Wu-Tang, Black Star, Tribe, Goodie Mob, DOOM, Common... the list goes on and on.

There are A LOT more essential 90s rap album yes, many of which hold up 100% and are still among the best the genre has to offer, but there’s probably still around 10 80s rap albums I still really enjoy

Goodie Mob’s Soul Food And Bone Thugs E.1999 are the first rap albums I ever heard and still hold up

I’ve come to accept I’m a miserable old git haha

First hip hop album I owned was Too Legit To Quit by MC Hammer. It was on cassette. I was 8. Fuck, that’s depressing.

I remember buying E. 1999 Eternal in 5th or 6th grade when it first came out with bags of quarters.

Criminally, I don’t think I’ve ever listened to all of E. 1999 Eternal. I had Crossroads and 1st of tha Month on single and listened to both so much, but for whatever reason, never listened to the album. Gonna fix that now.

HOT TAKE: The *original* Crossroads is MILES better than the popular Crossroads version (which is a remake following Eazy E's death).

Also, go listen to Mo Murda.
