I listen to a lot of different music, just don't think jazz is for me

Part of why I haven't listened many older albums is because its more modern genres that I'm interested in

A lot of classics meant a lot to me even if I got there late, including 80s rap. To be fair, not only was that long before streaming when music wasn’t as available, but I also had friends who started digging at the same time, so we had those shared moments.

Also Logic and Eminem, whatever else they may be, are hip hop artists whereas Lil Dicky is a racist parody act, so yeah, good call.

Also I've listened to Bruce Springsteen's early albums so my post isn't 100% accurate, there's probably more I'm forgetting, but there isn't a lot pre-1990 that I've listened to

    Trusted

These last few pages have been a wild ride

I think if you grow up listening to a bunch of modern music, going back to the source - in so far to what’s “influential” - might not seem as groundbreaking because you’re already desensitized to particular “innovations” or whatever. But conversely, good music is able to stand on its own.

I grew up with parents that only really listen to Rockabilly, a genre that I have no interest in, so blame them lol

No worries, I'm just always surprised when people only listen to recent stuff because I was never like that but like what you like
