Random question here:
I'm listening to Tupac lately and have been researching him. Apparently he served jail time for sexual assault. I know he's considered a legend in the genre, and he claimed he was innocent, but I try to always side with the victim in these cases. I know he has such a huge legacy and influence, so is there something I'm missing?

 

he gained his stature at a time when such considerations weren't as well-established, and he also served his time (which many rapists or sexual assault perpetrators do not) and is also, well, dead.

 

and is also one of the greatest musicians of all time.

Not that that alleviates him from scrutiny or makes any of the things he did okay, but his art remains iconic because it's great.

I think that fact that he's so legendary kind of makes people turn a blind eye to the bad stuff. Same thing with John Lennon for example (who is also, dead)
