Album - Cakes Da Killa - Hedonism (October 21, 2016)

 

I'm four tracks into Birds in the Trap and so far it makes Rodeo seem like a masterpiece.

And that's as someone who finds 6-7 Rodeo tracks tolerable. New one is a likely contender for my least favorite album of the year right now.

 

Are his albums signicantly worse than his mixtapes? I mean I don't love Owl Pharaoh or Days, but they really don't sound all that out of place with what's on rap radio. Although, I guess the fact that he "blends in" appears to be one of the biggest criticisms toward him

 

Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight isn't like tragically bad to me but I listened to the whole record without so much as a second thought. If you like Rodeo you might like it but I think Travis is as corny as it gets and this album is just further proof of that to me.

Isaiah Rashad album is great though.

 

Travis is just consistently the worst part of his own albums which is uh, not a very good thing for an artist to be.

Second on Isaiah's album it is real good

 

Isaiah got a great Kendrick verse

Damn, didn't realize so many people hated Travis Scott. I think his stuff is fun to listen to, not thought-provoking or groundbreaking in any way (he's no Kendrick, obviously) but not terrible.

 

its funny to me when people say that (not a slight toward you, more toward travis) because he postures himself as being both thought provoking and groundbreaking

 

I would recommend listening to any of the artists he rips off because many of them are provocative and fascinating

 

I mean, he has his moments, but I'm under no such illusions. What he thinks of himself is his own business, right?

Well, that would require me not already listening to plenty of other rap artists and not having a lot of experience with the genre. I'm not some kind of rap neophyte, I know what I'm getting when I listen to Travis Scott.

 

Not as good as Rodeo but I enjoyed it

 

The new De La Soul album is really fucking good. Given the status of their first few albums it's not really appropriate to call it their best album, but it's probably my favorite anyway.

It's for real for today. Nothing is ever permanent with Wayne. I do hope he gets his demons under control someday.
