I mean I get why I think j Cole is overrated, but none of those articles really have a good explanation. In fact zero analysis of the actual music and rapping in question.

 

the point is that the people who love him don't have very solid reasons for why, which is why the love for him is confusing to those that don't like him

 

No one should have to defend the artists they like. Who gives a shit if people like J Cole or not?

 

Whenever J. Cole comes up in real life conversations, I always say how I used to fuck with him when he was coming up, but have since realized that while he is a good rapper, the way he executes his verses is extremely samey and boring. The person I'm speaking with usually agrees with me even though they themselves are J. Cole fans.

So yeah, it doesn't make any sense. I'm from NC though so I think a lot of it has to do with the locality of it.
