I can’t bring myself to cheer over the shooting death of a 20 year old black man. I’m hoping his victims can find peace and that he isn’t canonized because of his early death

 

Craig is one of my favorite Twitter follows and I think that I am very much aligned with that take

 

highlighting how it's shitty that the person who waterboarded and tortured his ex girlfriend, wanted to stick a barbecue fork up her vagina and nearly beat a gay man to death for looking at him may see a spike in record sales is definitely not fodder for your imaginary, petty feud

grow the fuck up

 

there's enough people trying to lift this guy up and erase his wrongdoings that i don't feel the least bit bad in not caring that he's dead.

I would never go as far as saying I’m happy someone is dead (especially in the manner in which he was killed) but I’m definitely relieved he can never terrorize someone again and I hope his victims find some sort of peace.

 

I've been struggling to come to terms with how I feel about this,
In no uncertain terms X was a horrible abuser who seemed to offer little to no repentance for his actions. He deserved to be punished, the things he did were unconscionable and in no way do I feel that he deserves to be held in high esteem or forgiven now that he's gone. He was not a good person in his short life and if there's anything I hope his victims can rest easier now.
When I think about it in those terms, I understand the impetus to wash our collective hands of him knowing there's one less abuser in the world.

There's just a small part of me that bristles at the idea of welcoming the death of yet another young black man to gun violence, especially one that came up through a cycle of abuse and trauma and ultimately met a senselessly violent end at 20. It's just all very dark.
Maybe that's taking too macro a view on it, idunno. Not saying anyone else is wrong for feeling otherwise, not even sure how I feel 100%

 

I'm really sad about this right now because my high school aged sister is doing just this.

she says I should respect him and that he did nothing wrong and everyone who was out to get him was lying.

Why do these white boys get mad at people who don't care that he's dead, but didn't get mad at xxx for beating his pregnant girlfriend?

The Reddit news post was basically a bunch of dudes saying "Yeah ok, fuck this guy."

I'm sure the X subreddit is building him a statue and planning to torture animals in his honor or something. These kids are sick and need help.

That feel when defending victims of abuse is a partisan issue. Like, how are there kids out there who say to themselves "I'm going to take the side that's AGAINST the pregnant woman who was repeatedly assaulted. Fuck those liberal sjws!"

 

Stans are gonna stan.

 

The money isn't going into the pocket of an abuser. Hopefully it finds its way to a better place.
