Really? Salt Shaker and Get Low have got to be bigger hits than Right Thurr.

 

I don't think so. Right Thurr charted higher than Salt Shaker (2 as opposed to 9). Get Low went to the same spot as Right Thurr but with less competition and it stayed there less long. Right Thurr also did it in a time when that required higher sales. In general I think Right Thurr has higher mainstream mindshare penetration, it could totally play in a sitcom montage today. Get Low comes close but isn't quite there I think, plus people think of it as a Lil Jon song (which it is). Lil Jon would totally headline by the way. Plus Chingy had like 2 more top five hits after Right Thurr.

I swear I'm not a Chingy stan. I'm gonna go listen to Wait (The Whisper Song) now.

 

I guess I've been proven wrong. Lil Jon would absolutely headline if he were on the bill, but maybe Chingy was "bigger" than Ying Yang.

 

Yeah, I forgot about some other 'hits' that Chingy had but I feel Ying Yang Twins were just more relevant and consistent for longer than Chingy.

Either way, I wouldn't go to this show.

 

Ying Yang Twins were more "relevant" because they were taken more seriously by actual rap fans, partly because at that point modern Southern rap sounds had become more accepted. I know Chingy is from the Midwest but the music he made was thrown into the same pot by people.

 

I'd go to that show for free (mainly for Ying Yang), but I won't pay $30 or whatever the ticket prices are.

 

Luckily it has been a very good year for old heads so far too haha
