Right and I'm not attacking the guy or anything, I'm just saying that I don't really think it's all that terrible that a guy got punched in the face for doing something much much worse.

What's with these dumb ass hypothetical questions? xxx can release music all he wants he just should be shunned for what he did. Tupac should have been too but I was like three years old, maybe I can get a time machine to go back and tell three year old me to spread awareness for the culture, if we're gonna come up with stupid hypothetical scenarios

 

You're just going down a road that would take a lot of artists out of the game even though these artists often commited acts of violence partly because they grew up in toxic environments that left them essentially traumatized and so on. I think things like that should be taken into account before one wishes that somebody can never successfully pursue his talents again.

Anyway, the whole reason I mentioned Pac is to point out that people aren't consistent. You apparently are so you should not have felt the need to engage anyway.

I also think X is a bad rapper and that his music is not what made him a "success" and that he therefore should not be one anyway.

 

Growing up in a bad environment doesn't mean you're excused if you commit acts of sexual assault. Wow. Even for all the problems of misogyny in hip-hop sexual assault is a line most rappers and fans know not to cross, even if they make excuses (like you are) for those who do cross it. And people can pursue their talents and success all they want if they're one of the ones who do commit those acts, I just won't support them and would heavily heavily encourage others to do the same.

 

Here we go again. I'm not defending him no matter how hard you want me to. I'm saying, simply put, that bad stuff can lead to bad stuff (and rappers, in general, went trough more bad than many other musicians) and that in those cases the bad stuff you do should not necessarily have be the de facto end of your life, especillay if you have still something good to contribute to this fucked up world (like, let's say, Tupac had). I'm not saying this is the case for X, because like I said I think he's not a good rapper and is ONLY famous because of his bad behaviour.

And yes people can do what they want because you're not the dictator of the world, I understand that, but that doesn't mean I can't challenge your opinion on a message board, even if you can't enforce it.

Summary:

- It's cool that X got punched
- Vigilante justice is bad regardless
- The world can be complicated and violence breeds violence
- X should not be a successful rapper regardless
- Tupac probably did some terrible things
- All Eyez On Me is a valuable piece of music regardless

I'm done with this discussion now but please feel free to misconstrue my arguments some more if you want.

not disagreeing with you. I'm happy to see him get punched too, but I'd rather see him get arrested, lose his rights, have an unsuccessful career. Unfortunately all that happens now is that hip hop shows "look" like a dangerous thing and videos of XXX get spread around the internet and he just gets more exposure/publicity.

 

Well yeah I think we'd all agree a prison sentence is the desirable outcome but we know how the justice system is so whatever shitty thing happens to him I'll take
