yup. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt last time and pretend like it wasn't bad, but obviously we were all wrong to think that way. Between Kodak and Migos, the "Nobody Safe" tour is really earning it's name.

this isn't at all comparable to what Kodak did though

This seems to be an ongoing problem. Inflating everything to the point where it's all expected to be treated like the most despicable acts. It happens all the time lately where someone will list off a bunch of physical abusers and tag in someone who's said something homophobic. I get it, there's a need to highlight everything but I think by grouping every type of gross behavior together tends to diminish how gross some of this is.

Also I don't think making a joke about the tour earning it's name is really appropriate.

I think if we want to talk about violence (and for that matter homophobia) in hip hop the conversation needs to go way beyond individual artists and has to look at the root causes of much of it or the conversation isn't really going anywhere.

very true. that's why i figured to give them another chance. the fact that they had that criticism go towards them and even afterwards still did this is the bigger bummer.

bunch of factors at hand here that are a combination of upbringing (the master of none episode gets at that part a bit in regards to the homophobia aspect) and the industry promoted stereotypical image of what rappers should be like. wondering what it's going to take to really change. labels/management absolutely aren't helping and instead keep feeding the behavior.

Especially with regards to the violence it's not just upbringing (as in what your family teaches you) that can be a factor but also undiagnosed mental health issues (which is a whole other can of worms) often brought forth by violent environments. PTSD for example is probably not uncommon and as we know can lead to violence. That's just a small part of the larger conversation but one that can absolutely not be overlooked when we talk about violence in hip hop in particular.

You're right. I didn't mean to lump them together or compare them. Just sucks that half of the lineup of the biggest hip hop tour of the summer is problematic.
