DJ Quik released an extended version last year's Rosecrans EP. He added a lot of songs so it's an album now called Rosecrans. It's great.

There has been an almost unprecedented amount of incredible L.A. rap albums this year.

I checked it out. I enjoyed it a decent amount, but moreso in the way that I can hear how influential it was to rap music as a whole. In a weird way, Ol' Dirty Bastard's parts reminded me of Young Thug haha. I think I enjoyed Raekwon's and Method Man's verses the most.

I see. Yeah, Method Man was very much ahead of his time I think, although I think they all did a great job on that album.

I actually wrote about how Ol Dirty Bastard reminds me of Young Thug a while ago, haha: Ol' Dirty Bastard - Return To The 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version (1995)

Also, Raekwon released an album this year and it's good.

I never really dove into ODB's solo stuff. If it's even remotely like Thugger, I need to check it out now.

Start with "Return To The 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version". His music is not like Young Thug's music of course, but Young Thug's unconventional vocal style and his "eccentricity" remind me of O.D.B. Same goes for Danny Brown, for example. You probably know the song "Shimmy Shimmy Ya", but if not it might help you understand what I mean.

Yeah, I get what you're saying. I just downloaded "Return". Have so much stuff in my queue right now but hopefully I'll get a chance to check it out soon.

Both Jazz Cartier and Smino are playing here on Saturday and I'm debating on which one to go to...

Leaning towards Smino since I've already kinda seen Jazz (at a festival, and only partial set), but I'm hoping I can go to both if the timing works out.
