I recently started The Get Down and im enjoying it, tho its a bit silly at parts. What can ya expect from Baz Luhrmann though? I wonder how accurate it is in terms of rap's history

 

hip hop history of definitly something I can recommend getting familiar with, especially the first 10 - 15 years and some of the circumstances that led up to it, in my experience it increases the rap listening experience

 

Underrated group in general. The A Piece of Strange => Dirty Acres => Oneirology stretch is so fucking good. Kno is one of my favorite producers.

Beats,Rhymes&Life is good even though Rappaport is a dweeb

 

I really liked that documentary that Ice-T made that used to be on Netflix. Art of Rap or something like that. Interviews a shitload of rappers and has them talk about their craft and most of them even freestyle. He gets actual big artists in it too, I remember Kanye is in it and Snoop and Nas among a ton of others

 

I got tickets for him opening for the Gorillaz tour, should be super interesting to see him in a stadium setting

Yes that's a good one. Hip Hop Evolution has big names too by the way, it's largely interview based with a line up that somewhat evolves from episode to episode.

Who knows how this happened, it's extraordinarily messy. This definitly wasn't Ja Rules doing because why would he, I'm pretty sure the people that pitched this whole thing to him (I think in reality he's just an investor) sold him the same idea they sold the customers.
