What were your thoughts on Drogas Wave? Peronally, I think it may be his best (which is saying a LOT because I hold F&L, The Cool and T&Y in extremely high regard)

Totally random post here, and more to do with R&B, but on an absolute whim, I decided to listen to 112's Part III album - for probably the first time in more than 20 years (half the album is still a JAM) while driving to the grocery store on lunch. I get to the grocery store and the place was playing 'It's Over Now' while I was shopping.

    What are the odds???

I’m starting with Drogas Light first and really dig the style of this album. I kinda stopped paying attention to him around this time for some reason even tho like I said I loved tetsuo

If I recall, that album consisted of a bunch of throwaways from several of his last 3 or 4 albums. I don't even consider that as an official Lupe album.

Turned it off after city of the year. That sounded like a lasers song. Time for wave

Yeah, Light was very much the "one for them" after the density of T&Y, more straightfoward and I suppose upbeat/fun.

Wave is awesome so far. WAV files is a highlight

Drogas Light is definitely reminiscent of Lasers and similar to that album it's mostly throwaway stuff but there are a few solid tracks. He really should've named the albums something different but yeah Wave is a million times better.

WAV Files is unreal man. the part where he's naming the slave ships and it just goes on and on...

the whole story of it is pretty cool if you ever revisit or dig into the lyrics,

It’s about a group of slaves on a slave ship on their way to Africa to the West Indies and they are thrown off the boat. But they didn’t die. They stayed alive and they lived under the sea. And they dedicated their lives to sinking slave ships -- so they became this super, underwater force against slavery. It’s like a super-deep story that I am building on different fronts. But that’s the main idea and the source material for the album.

Also, it's thematically broken into two halves, with Tracks 1-9 being WAVE and Tracks 10-24 being DROGAS

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

y'all may know this already but he's been dropping a bunch of loosies since Drill Music too. typical of Lupe the quality is all over the place but the best stuff is fucking phenomenal. I really like these 3

I've listened to each loosie once probably, I should just throw them all in a playlist and revisit

Even the pre-Drill loosies are very good.
