Paranoia Hotel dominated most of my time in the early months of last year, but I never went back after that. Now is a good time to do that.

not sure how Lupe expects people to be hyped for DROGAS light when he's so open with it being a bunch of throw away songs in preparation for the real album DROGAS.

This was pretty much his same approach when he released LASERS (don't recall him saying 'throw away' songs but admitted to giving in to corporate to give them what THEY wanted).

yeah im really getting LASERS vibes from this, which is weird cause wasn't the whole point of him going independent was to avoid releasing another lasers type album?

Its frustrating to no end for me when an artist throws their own album under the bus before it's even released.

I thought the point of DROGAS Light was he owed the label one more album, but didn't want it to be DROGAS (or any of the other two because he wanted to release those independently) so he gave them this album. It was mentioned in this article: Lupe Fiasco Skipping Retirement to Release 'Drogas Light' Next Year

To be fair, Lupe is kind of schizophrenic, anything he ever says, I typically take with a grain of salt. And he's one of my favorite rappers.

Lupe is a great rapper but terrible with expressing himself positively. Hes a confusing/confused artist and it shows.

I'm excited for his new stuff. Tetsuo and Youth was pretty amazing imo

  10. Not really feeling this "Wild Child" song, but T&Y was pretty great, so I'm optimistic for what Lupe has in store.

That's what I thought too, but that article seems to suggest he had to give them one more and I thought the reason for the delay with the other three albums was due to label issues (otherwise, why would there be a delay if he was releasing them independently?). I also thought I remember him kind of explaining this on Twitter as well.

A percentage of the sales for Drogas Light will still go to Atlantic even though it won't technically be released by them, so instead of giving some of the profits from the album he really believes in to them he decided to basically put together a B-sides album and let them make the money off that one.

This album has really grown on me after a few listens. It's good stuff.

Smoke DZA / Pete Rock: Don't Smoke Rock Album Review | Pitchfork

"This year, Tribe made an album that was grandiose, politically engaged, haunted by loss, and one of the year’s finest. But Pete Rock and Smoke DZA have forged something we still need, too: a great, modest New York rap album of concrete beats and blood-in-your-mouth bars. We await the reunion with CL Smooth with interest."

I never really got into Smoke DZA, he does a lot of shit with Curren$y but his features haven't really hooked me. That album sounds cool though
