The Roots’ Black Thought Announces New Album With El Michels Affair

this man simply does not stop

 

El Michels Affair are fucking great too, can’t wait for that. Giving me the same vibes as Ghostface’s albums with BBNG and Adrian Younge. A combo that works so well you don’t know how it hasn’t been done before.

 

Do all of these Black Thought releases in such quick succession mean that the long delay on the Roots album is on Questlove?

 

apparently they've recorded the whole thing and it's being mixed currently. Quest said the others have been getting on him to finish it lmao

 

I’m sure that’s part of it, but making a Black Thought album is also easier logistically than making a Roots album in general. He’s just really into rapping constantly right now it seems, but The Roots aren’t made for that.

 

Did everyone do a year end list for Hip Hop? I've been MIA and didn't really see anything but was wondering what people had for top 10s! I like to try and listen to any stuff I missed last year before all the new albums start hitting for 2023...so any lists would be appreciated!

Goddamn this is horrible -- I posted this earlier but I just got super into Boldy and have been listening to basically nothing else for two weeks. Can't remember the last time I got so obsessed with a single rapper's work. Praying he makes a full recovery, awful that this happens as he's been slowly starting to get more and more of the recognition he deserves.

 

He’s dropping an EP Monday but it’s exclusively only on vinyl. No streaming or download.

might be old news but I just saw Mac Miller's I Love Life, Thank You mixtape is on streaming now? don't remember it ever being there before

it's pretty good stuff I recommend to fans of his older stuff. same era as Blue Slide Park but way better than that album haha
