I'm actually kind of getting into Yachty now. I've been listening to Lil Boat a bit the past few days. I really like the first three tracks on it.

Lil Boat is dope. Just gotta give it a chance... took a while to click for me too.

i feel like yachty is really close to hitting his mark but right now its just way too infrequent for me to really get invested in his work. i hope he does something i connect with soon though.

I didn't realize he had established two separate characters through his music, which is what ended up drawing me in once I finally listened to the tape. I'm kind of worried he'll lose some of the appeal if he starts working with bigger producers.

I think Yachty is wasted potential besides a couple great verses here and there. The dude just doesnt know how to stick to a flow and perfect it. I also dont like his attitude about being the voice for teens-- for some reason annoys me

He's not the voice for teens he's the King of Teens.

I think it works to his benefit that he isn't sticking to one flow and perfecting it

His music is just fun. I mean, I'm not looking for a great lyricist or unique flow when I'm listening to him. It's just a good time. That being said, he may still evolve into something more. He has potential.

I'm so on the cusp of enjoying him but his singing still bugs me from time to time. I'm sure I can overcome that though

His attitude and approach is the most endearing thing about him, I wish him all the success in the world, in spite of all the grouchy and bitter old hip hop heads.

yeah he seems like a good kid

  23. Yeah his attitude is so infectious. One of my favorite music moments of 2016 is the XXL Freshmen roundtable where he says something like "I just make positive music, I'm like the opposite of 21 savage" and 21 just goes "yeah I make murder music"

Tiny Mix Tapes write up for their EOTY list is what really got me to give Lil Boat a chance

"Joy to the World! While we were seafoaming at the mouth and drowning in our sorrows, Lil Yachty channeled an unlikely positivity, the warmth of summer songs, into resoundingly amateur resilience. Released when its maker was 18 years old, Lil Boat defied the novelty that has been assigned to Yachty for his goofy image and nursery rhyme hooks. From interludes to outbursts, at the overlapping shores of Atlanta trap and radio pop, Lil Boat tuned his infectiously carefree coo to TheGoodPerry’s icy beats with free-associative soul. We rode the wave of its plastic jubilation (“Run Running,” “Minnesota”), woozy calms (“Never Switch Up,” “Im Sorry”), and crystalline jams (“One Night,” “Wanna Be Us”), all of it immaculately sequenced into a strange voyage of breathing room. Although much of its pleasure was immediate, even shallow, Lil Boat drifted over deep water. Aboard, there was tranquility in his elasticity, a smile that wouldn’t capsize. –Pat Beane"
