Did anybody else listen to the Stormzy album? It’s really fucking good. Real - I don’t really like this phrase, but it is being used a lot to describe albums like this - “grown man rap”. It shot up my 2022 list real fast.

There's also an episode of Rick Rubin's podcast where him and Stormy go through the album together.

 

I assumed he’s talking about Watch The Throne. There’s only one people are going to censor at the moment and understandably so.

 

Fair point, but sadly there's another censorship-worthy member of a duo that includes Jay Z that was putting out albums when Nelly put out his biggest lol

Going to check out Little Simz for the first time today and also give new SZA a spin. Might give the latest Megan a spin as well

 

Gonna have to check this out, I haven’t really loved Stormzy in the past but I reeeeeally dug Hide & Seek and didn’t realize there was an album on the way

 

Little Simz record was really nice for those first few tracks. I put it on way too late last night and fell asleep though, haha. Gonna start it over in a bit

Late pass, but Sometimes I Might Be Introvert is nuts. This is Kendrick/peak **-level shit. The production, the flow, the confidence...phew

 

Yeah, I slept on that record for way too long last year - woulda had an easy run at my top 10 had I gotten on board earlier. “Woman” never fails to gets a reaction from people that haven’t heard her when I throw her on at the function or in the car. There’s a lot of great stuff on GREY Area too, Selfish is the bop to end all bops

Fav track for me would probably be either JID - Money or Benny - Johnny P’s Caddy. Funny enough both records are in the back half of my top 50 for the year, but as standalone songs I went back to those two a buuunch

 

The playlists I make every year are often full of tracks that are either loosies or are from albums I do not care for, whereas there often aren’t a lot of songs on them from the albums I like lol

 

Johnny P’s Caddy really is a banger

 

Amazing beat and intro to the album

 

I guess my post never posted since the forums went down but basically I said I gave the jid album a full listen and while I have standout songs personally for me it felt a little longer than it needed to be

 

it’s a reminder of why Cole was so hyped in the first place, and that he’s capable of being great

 

I honestly don't know if Cole has ever brought that feature energy to a full-length project though
