Revisiting Little Dominique’s Nosebleed. Like this might be an actual modern classic right? Absolutely love the production and his flow/delivery is fantastic

It is a really bloody good album. The Koreatown Oddity is severely underrated on here too.

Need to go back to his album from this year, not listened to it in a while.

Yeah I saw he put out an album this year and was curious how it was

Listened to the new Mavi last night. Not too bad, but nothing that really stands out. Feel as if a fair few on here will like it, though.

finally got around to the Gibbs album and was extremely disappointed. aside from the anti vax line(s) and Jeff Ross and Joe Rogan showing up for whatever reason, it didn't have a single song that really caught my attention. this is coming from someone who's been pretty big on just about everything he's released since like Cold Day in Hell

  14. I don't know if this is a hot take, but I think Some Rap Songs is the closest thing we have to a modern classic since maybe 2013.

Very easily. It might be the most important rap album since like Da Drought 3, at least as important as the essential Thug and Future stuff

I think My Krazy Life is a pretty special record too, and that first Dave album (I call it “What if Drake was good“)

Earl may not be headlining arenas like Tyler has been, but his releases are just as significant as Flower Boy or IGOR (if not more so tbh)

Great stretches from both OFWGKTA members

I don't think I'd consider any of those records modern classics to be completely honest. They're all great, no questioning that, but I don't think any of them truly feel like genre/cultural landmarks. Especially when TPAB, DS2, and Barter 6 all came out in 2015, Telefone in 2016, Big Fish Theory in 2017...

  19. Yeah, I just got into a very tiring argument about the definition of a classic with my Discord pals when I simply used the wrong word, so while the cultural consensus may be that TPAB is the closest thing to a modern classic, I just think the Earl album is likely the best hip-hop release since 2013 (and in my opinion, also very important)

I don't think Telephone and Big Fish are anywhere near SRS in terms of influence or impact. TPAB is a masterpiece, but I wouldn't consider it like a game changer, you didn't see popular music shifting to match any of the aesthetics on it. It kinda stands alone.

Oh and obviously any early Chief Keef needs to be mentioned if we're talking modern day impact.

I think a classic at this point needs to be fresh rather than perfect, which is why I don’t think Kendrick makes modern classics, because his albums aren’t actually all that unique, just well executed

    Pls don’t be mad

These conversations are always so subjective and rushed, everything is going to be more clear in another ten years and it will still be hard to decipher amongst every person's experience.

I remember distinctly not thinking Good Kid Mad City deserved its instant classic status despite being a really solid album, people love to overreact and confirm their biases based on expectations.
