I'm not really up on Antwon, but what's his affiliation with the metal/hardcore community? He was here not long ago with Trash Talk and I just saw that he's opening for Power Trip next month... now the thing with the dude from Deafheaven?

oh my god, I'm back on my bullshit Prestigious

    He likes hardcore.

and I guess his fan-base does too? I realize there's crossover, just interested me since it's not often you see rappers open for hardcore/metal acts.

I mean most of his fans probably don't like hardcore, but I guess maybe he think hardcore fans might like him? Personally I love the idea of mixed line ups like that, partly because I enjoy both genres and also because it might introduce people to a genre that they were previously ignorant to.

For sure. I'm love both hip hop and hardcore, but some of those crowds must be rough for him.

Bummed I missed that TT/Antwon tour when it came to Richmond. Went to go see Animal Collective instead.

Trash Talk are known to be affiliated with hip hop, so I would guess that TT crowds would be a lot easier on a rapper than most hardcore crowds.

I was at an All Time Low last year and out of the pre-show songs that the "DJ" was playing, the one that got by far the biggest positive reaction was "N****s in Paris". I know All Time Low is not hardcore and Jay Z isn't Antwon, but I imagine the Spotifyication of music has had an effect on a lot of crowds.

When I was at uni I used to go to an "alternative" club night and every time that song would get played and everyone would go crazy. I think it's just something about that song lol.

Gotcha, that makes sense then. He's just friends with people in the scene. It may be certain bands or crowds, but I've seen metal/hardcore kids boo anything that even remotely resembles hip hop so I was just curious re Antwon.

i also think he mightve been in some punk bands before he started rapping too but dont quote me on that. but yeah its cool to see a rapper (that isnt an odd future affiliate lol) be associated with that scene

I think MGK and some of those Strange Music rappers also occasionaly have those kinds of crowds

I've always thought this was a pretty cool hardcore/hip hop crossover
