No love lost is seriously a ridiculously good album it’s a shame his newest isn’t as good but it’s still decent

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

only just got a chance to spin that new JID song and as usual his flows are just insanely good. hyped for the album soon

on another note, this is a fucking heater:

Speaking of the rap discourse, is it just me or is rap not having the best year?

I'd tend to agree. Outside of Benny and Conway, I can't really think of much hip hop that's grabbed me this year.

I liked Moor Mother and the new billy woods, and Denzel had it's moments but yeah that's about it for me.

Even like in terms of mainstream succes. I’m sure Drake once again broke records and all in some ways, but I nevertheless feel like there isn’t a lot of energy this year.

Yeah, there's some stuff I enjoyed, but even anticipated records from some of my favorite artists kinda unwhelmed me (Denzel, Kendrick, K.R.I.T., Vince, 2 Chainz)

I liked the Future and Pusha albums, but they'd probably be towards the bottom of my ranking amongt the rest of their discographies

Moor Mother has put out 2 solid albums this year. But agree, pretty weak so far.

Lupe, Flo Milli, Rico, Saba, They Hate Change, Phife Dawg, tobi lou, Denzel, and Kendrick are all good-to-great IMO.

Feels like there was room for a big breakout release and no one really took it. Lot of great albums from smaller artists tho, but yeah it’s feels flat generally for the bigger releases.

Kendrick and Vince had the opportunity but both opted for more introspective albums this year. I didn't love Vince but I can appreciate the experiment. As for Kendrick, it's shocking to me how brief of a time after the album released when it was on everyone's radar. Maybe Megan's album tomorrow will cause more of a stir.

I will say, I'm listening to the new Joey Bada$$ right now and it's pretty solid
