Rico Nasty just put out a surprise AOTY list candidate for me. Holy shit, this is the album I've always thought she was capable of making but never quite reached the potential until now. Her best and most varied rapping and singing ever and absolutely nuts production. Fans of Big Fish Theory and Iridescence NEED to listen to this. The last couple songs reach an emotional level she's never really gone for before too. Really impressed with this album

 

I did really like the new Joey Bada$$ album too. It's very consistently good (besides the godawful Chris Brown song, and it's not just bad because he's on it, like it's an actively bad song) with some very good highs like Survivor's Guilt, Where I Belong, Zipcodes and Show Me, but it doesn't have the real standout songs that his past albums have for me yet

 

this is killer. really does sound like main attrakionz but with more emphasis on the electronic beats.

 

Doing a deep-dive with UGK for the first time today

 

I was just revisiting Supa Tight and Ridin Dirty this last week and they're both so so good

 

Check out the first couple of Bun B albums too. Trill especially is remarkable.

 

Until now I was 100% sure Mystikal was still in jail

 

Im also going to do a UGK dive this week. Only familiar with the singles

 

I listened to Supa Tight and Ridin Dirty today and thoroughly enjoyed them both. Some of it is a little samey but that's what happens when you listen to a lot by the same artist all in a row. That said, the standouts are great and think I'm going to continue with their other albums this week.

Has anyone seen Curren$y live recently?

I haven't followed him in years, but used to be pretty heavy into him and saw him live a few times like a decade ago and it was kind of hit or miss, but he's playing here in a few weeks with a full band and I was thinking about going, but tickets are like $60 after fees.
