An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

Deck's feature on "House of Flying Daggers" is absolutely insane too ha. him, Meth and Ghost stayed great way longer than I thought they could

Didn't Deck release an album this year? Or was it last year?

Curious to see what y’all have as favorites from the solo releases. Think my top 5 would be Liquid Swords, Supreme Clientele, OB4CL, Fishscale, and then maybe Tical in the last spot?

The intro/skit to Method Man cracks me up every time.

I’m interested too. I like this album and want to get into their individual albums. I’ve seen Cuban Links and Liquid Swords mentioned.

You can’t go wrong starting with either of those. I think most would agree they are the peak. Liquid Swords is personally my favorite, and I’d recommend checking out the rest of GZA’s discography, as the rest of the Wu show up throughout with a lot of great verses. Also his collab album Grandmasters with DJ Muggs is worth checking out. RZA’s debut is good though it’s a little all over the place, still definitely worth a listen.

Two I missed in my initial post were Ironman from Ghostface and ODB’s Return to the 36 Chambers. Both are classics

If you're first getting into the solo albums I think it's best to go in order of when they came out between the first and second group albums

    So

    Tical (Method Man)
Return to the 36 Chambers (ODB)
Only Built 4 Cuban Linx... (Raekwon)
    Liquid Swords (GZA)
    Ironman (Ghostface)

Depending on who you like best I'd dive deeper into their discographies. Ghostface and Raekwon are proabably the most consistent solo artists, especially Ghostface who has a mostly amazing discography. Supreme Clientele and Fishscale by him are also absolute classics

After that, if you want albums from the others I would recommend Uncontrolled Substance (Inspectah Deck), No Said Date (Masta Killa), Bobby Digital (RZA), Venom (U-God), and The Pillage (Cappadonna), although the solo work from these guys is a lot more hit or miss so mileage may vary. I personally don't really care for Cappadonna or U-God's solo work much

A very underrated solo album is Ghostdini Wizard of Poetry in Emerald City, one of my favorite 00s rap albums

Didn't Ghostdini get a lot of shit by fans because it was almost an RnB album? I've never given it a proper listen.

Both ODB's solo albums are so god damn good. And Bobby Digital is really underrated.

I've never really liked Ghostdini lol

I've never been a huge fan of rap/R&B crossovers though

It was marketed as an R&B album which is dumb because he doesn’t sing. It’s just an album full of what you could call Ghostface singles with R&B hooks. It mostly wasn’t all that pop either compared to what else was happening. People made it sound like it was a Nelly album when it really wasn’t.

Weird how The Pillage is so good. Can’t get down with anything else Cap ever did, the dip in quality is so high. The U-God debut is alright but I just find him so boring compared to the rest of the group. At least Cap can crack me up with some of the whack lines he’ll come up with ha.

To give him some credit, U-God has some great moments on Wu-Tang Forever, and he’ll always have that iconic opening bar on Da Mystery of Chessboxin

I'll never forget the first time I listened to this album, the subsequent solo albums, and then Wu-Tang Forever all night after night. Such an amazing experience

It’s where the opening like monologue is from. It might be on Criterion Channel. It’s like 5 or so films based on a manga. It’s a fun time.
