I am hearing this sucks

 

“You learn about as much from the movie as you do from the trailer, and the trailer is free to watch and saves you a lot of time.”

That’s exactly what I was afraid of.

I guess it forgets that the thing that makes Peele’s movies so good is their balance of horror and humor. If this is just non-stop sports horror with no characters, who cares?

 

I am actually hearing it is closer to a horror-comedy based on what I've read? Which also seems odd given the tone of the trailers.

 

Regardless of the reviews the budget for this is only $27 mil and the marketing has been pretty strong. I still think this is going to have a pretty successful run.

 

Seeing it tonight. I’ll let everyone know if they should see it or not.

Well, we'll see what Grimace thinks but I found it to be pretty lackluster. Definitely more style over substance. Some decent gore but it doesn't come until 70 minutes into the movie. I didn't hate it but it's nowhere near the quality of any of the Peele directed films.

 

Yeah the definition of style over substance but at least the style was pretty cool. Tipping definitely wears his influences on his sleeve basically just completely lifting stuff from other movies. It’d say skip it in theaters.

 

Oh yeah soundtrack was dope though.

 

Yeah this was real bad, Pinterest moodboard ass cinema up until the exposition dump ending which is a complete tonal nightmare. Justin Tipping you have skipped Fraud Watch entirely and gone right to Fraud Jail

 

Yeah my friend and I were trying to even figure out the giant exposition dump. Legit none of it made sense.

 

It didn't even need it! Nothing in the movie is confusing and the stuff that is confusing is clearly just there for #vibes anyways

 

After Jim Jeffries says something about taking real good care of him and only one gladiator could leave or whatever I thought he was going to steal his youth and then that weird exposition dump for no reason was dumb. Someone really needed to do another pass at the script.

 

what's this shit about this movie having a modern replica of the goddamn last supper? that sounds hysterical

opinions are so split on this I'm kinda more curious to see it than I was before. also the lead guy was great in Atlanta

they're not doing jackass 3D in my nearest theater but they are showing all the president's men for what i assume is due to redford's death

Dipping out until I catch this, but hey, maybe the very much lowered expectations will help me to enjoy it lol
