World premiere at TIFF next weekend. English language debut by one of the best film makers to emerge in the last 30 years. Follow up to the incredible Let the Sunshine In.

I'm so shocked this got picked up, especially by A24. Film is wild. So many walkouts at my screening.

Which part is the question referring to? Why it's wild? It's so overly sexual and violent in a way Claire Denis has never been (not even with Trouble Every Day). The structure is very strange. It's extremely cryptic. I don't think a lot of people that are seeing it at the festival are there for a Claire Denis film, so that definitely impacts the way it was received at my screening.

The “fuckbox” scene with Binoche is the highlight of the film. Huge Grandrieux vibes.

It’s really cool to see how hyped people are for this after her last film got buried in North America.

I know this is the English film so it’s much more marketable (though certainly not any more accessible than her other works). I hope it spikes an interest in her other works. We’ve got a full retrospective starting about a month before this film comes out and I’m so excited to revisit all her films and see most of them on the big screen for the first time.

Toronto (and surrounding area) folks, TIFF just announced a screening for next Thursday (28th) at the Lightbox. They’re advertising it as a “one-night-only” screening, which is weird because Elevation has distribution rights and has it dated for an April 19 release. Don’t know if the release plan changed or if this is just TIFF using deceptive phrasing to sell more tickets to their event before it gets a general release at Cineplex of whatever, but I guess there’s a chance this might be the only time to see it on the big screen.
