Hey Violet have released the new song “Friends Like This” and will be releasing three EPs in the next few months leading up to a new full length later this year. The full press release can be found below.

Hey Violet are the sound of now. The Los Angeles trio break the boundaries of genre, using modern pop as their own sonic playground. An apropos first listen of the much anticipated new music is the trio’s ultimate pandemic anthem, "Friends Like This" premiering with Hollywood Life TODAY. Fans have been waiting for new music with baited breath, and they won’t have to wait long for more. The band are gearing up to release 3 EP’s over the coming months, culminating in an LP. First EP "Problems", announced today, will hit April 30th and features 3 new tracks that showcase the exciting new direction Hey Violet are moving into, perfect pop that boast the same sensibilities fans love with a decidedly edgier vibe.

The band, founded by sisters Rena & Nia Lovelis and friend Casey Moreta has gone through many iterations, but always come back to this base. From sharing the stage with peers 5SOS to two Teen Choice Awards, an IHeart Radio Music Award, a Radio Disney Music Award to stints with Hi or Hey Records, Capitol and now this, their new-found and exciting independence, Hey Violet have made and will continue to make a lasting impact.

The band’s early material embraced a youthful pop-punk sound, but 2017’s From the Outside represented a step forward for the band, drawing from formative influences to cook up their own sound that places them in line with pop contemporaries like The 1975, Dua Lipa, and Billie Eilish. "We love pop music that has a somber nostalgia to it," Rena explains. "We really cultivated our sound which laid a great foundation for what we’re doing now, and we’re not afraid to experiment."

2021 is a big year for this band so pay attention! Hey Violet are poised to make waves like never before, establishing themselves as one of pop’s most exciting acts to watch.

Can someone with more industry experience explain to me the new trend of releasing one (in this case, several) EP a couple months prior to an album that will have every track from the EP on the album? I understand releasing a few singles prior to an album drop, and I get releasing non-album tracks, but I just don't get the rationale of releasing most of an album before the album release.

Playlist culture basically. Releasing an album in this way allows all of the songs to get more attention, in turn getting more stream numbers and playlist consideration/inclusion, and also keeps focus on the band throughout the year due to the continual dropping of music throughout the year.
