Sincerely any fans of indie/folk/alternative or just typically Canadian-sounding music, you will be kicking yourselves that you weren't listening to this band while they existed

 

Tim's solo record is out today. Beautiful stuff.

What's good off the solo record? The singles I've heard are a little boring

 

Oh really? I loved all the singles. Not as big of a sound as the Hey Rosetta stuff but it's all really charming. Love his voice and lyrics.

On first listen I really loved Two Mirrors.

 

Man I was incorrect, this song is fucking sublime

 

I’m honestly floored by the whole album at this point. Can’t listen to anything else.

 

Can't wait to give this a listen!

I'm worried I won't be as fond as I hope to be of it, Second Sight is my favourite album of theirs and as much as Tim's songwriting is incredibly important, the thing that makes the album for me is the instrumentation.

I've only heard the Side Door versions of the songs and the Dance studio version as of now, so I haven't heard the sound I'm looking for yet, but I'm looking forward to it all the same.

Yeah a lot of the songs are a "bigger" than Dance in terms of sound. But some of even more stripped down.

Eighteenth Hole and Two Mirrors are my favourite's as of now.

 

Enjoying the album, my early favourites are Spirit and the closing track.

It's subtle and nuanced like some of HR!'s best work and I'm looking forward to spending more time with it.

 

This will be my AOTY. Wish more people knew about it.
