Their bassist is underrated. His parts are always so perfect in their songs. Sometimes they are really simple parts, sometimes they are pretty complex but he never over plays and always finds his spot that perfectly compliments all the other instrumentation going on.

absolutely, the rhythm section in that band is extremely good. they're not showy and I think people forget about them as a result. Ben's songwriting is really suited to them specifically imo

Their drummer is insanely talented. Everyone in Death Cab is great at what they do. I didn't particularly care for their last two albums but there's no denying that they are talented

 

i was definitely in a similar boat. Codes and Keys would've been a solid EP imo, and Kintsugi was good but inconsistent for me. some great tracks, and some good tracks that are bogged down by some questionable choices. the new single makes me think they're gonna keep on with the questionable choices on otherwise decent songs
