I don’t seek out trailers very often but I can’t get into the 100% blind thing that seems to be more and more common these days. As long as major plot points aren’t given away I like to know who is involved and what the general consensus is about it.

Of course with this one I was sold after hearing that Gabriel Byrne and Toni Colette were in it and it was an artsy horror movie. That was enough to get me hyped and totally committed to going.

I also tried looking for a pic of the shower scene from The Faculty to haunt your dreams but couldn’t find it

I should probably watch Rosemary’s Baby one of these days. This movie put me in such a mood for horror. Was never big on the genre because I can’t stand how cheesy a lot of it can be.

Rosemary’s Baby is very similar to this in vibe- I hate how much I love it bc of Polanski, but it’s a great movie.

Totally feel being in the mood for horror only now- we rewatched The Witch, I’m going to watch Black Christmas for the first time this week, idk I’m trying to just make a whole list.

This just reminded me of being a pubescent teenage boy staying up late to watch HBO’s Real Sex only to be disappointed half the episodes are about elderly nudist colonies.

Watched this with my dad today and idk if anyone’s said this yet but the comedy moments in this are really funny. Does a great job of balancing the comedy and darker moments without sacrificing mood

I can't actually remember seeing anything funny in the movie. I laughed a few times but it was like "holy shit I can't believe they did that" laughter

I thought peter interacting with his crush was funny, I thought his friends were funny, I thought a lot of Steve’s (?) bewilderment was funny at times

His one-liners were amazing. Also the fact that they were both sane enough to check under the table for tricks during the seance made me laugh both times. They were not about to be fooled by shams and nonsense.

  21. Said it a while back I lol’ed hard when Peter became possessed or whatever in class and had that crazy look on his face with his arm and the air, and his friend just turns around and goes “Peter what are you doing man?”

The whole sequence of Peter trying to go to the party cracked me up too, from asking to borrow the car to him being basically caught in a lie when he then had to take his sister

Saw this today - loved it, amazing. Genuinely shocked and unsettled me so many times. Gave me a very strong Rosemary’s Baby feel, even with a touch of The Wicker Man.

Also, I should add that I love horror movies like this that rely on subtlety, mood, and psychological tension instead of just fucking jump scares every 10 mins. A real throwback to the classics of the genre. Also super influenced by gothic literature and the weird with all the family curse/pagan gods stuff (very reminiscent in particular of classic British horror literature, especially with the bits of black humor and the cult weirdos). I could write thousands of words about it I loved it so much.

Gabriel Byrne is absolutely fantastic in this, too, even though his part gets less attention than some of the others. He’s one of my all time favourite actors and I’m so glad he’s finally cracked it for starring in a truly classic horror film after a few attempts.
