I had my guard up so hard during that scene.

I didn’t imagine a shadow leaving/going over and away from Peter as he laid in the shrub after jumping out the window, right? Right before the light lands on him.

It’s Annie’s body floating out the window over him to go into the treehouse.

Totally cool, i was so freaked out by that point in my first viewing that I didn’t have the “duh” moment till I saw it again this morning!

That shot into the treehouse was the only one that went into narm for me and took me out of the film. Maybe it will be different on another viewing but I wasn’t into it.

That's a good question haha. I will admit I don't watch too many horror films so maybe that's why I didn't like this. I'm trying to think of some of the horror films I've seen and enjoyed recently and am honestly drawing a blank lol.

This seems like such a crazy choice to go see in theaters if you don’t like the genre at all. What movies do you find disturbing or unsettling? I can get certain aspects not hitting some people but I feel like at least a few scenes would be pretty universally upsetting.

Why did Colin Stetson have to make the last scene score so beautiful? It’s almost like it felt wrong to enjoy the music at that point.

Didn’t say I didn’t like the genre. I felt a lot of the scenes just came across as comical rather than scary.

I feel like it kicks the It Follows score off its throne for creepiest modern horror score, just so damn effective at making you feel uneasy.

I just can’t see how you appreciate the genre after some of your comments in this thread.

If you thought this was funny, I’m just glad you weren’t at my showing.

I mean you said you don't watch many horror movies and couldn't think of any you liked so...

The only mildly hokey thing was the float into the clubhouse

Yeah, that was a little silly but it was still creepy seeing a headless body just float into a treehouse. To me, anyway

Don’t worry. I know how to not be disrespectful during a movie.

it's also not a big deal if someone doesn't like something you like, just saying lol

  21. I mean, there were undoubtedly parts in this that were supposed to be humorous. The part where Peter is seizing with his hand up in class and his stoner friend turns around and goes “Peter, what are you doing man?” got me really good.

Just unfortunate that a lot of people in my viewing took the sprinkling of humor as a cue to laugh at basically everything in the movie. The teenagers behind me making the tongue-click sound every chance they could was driving me up a wall

Yeah that’s so annoying. Luckily I didn’t have anyone in my theater doing the clicking but a lot of people were laughing pretty loud a lot throughout the movie which was annoying. It’s pretty amazing how inconsiderate people can be in a movie theater.

I'm still just curious about what they find unsettling if this didn't do it for them. I have met some people who don't like anything supernatural because they don't believe in it and it takes away their immersion in a film , but everything involving Charlie's death and their familial breakdown just absolutely seems like the type of adult fear to strike a chord with everyone.

Eh. To each their own. The movie Coco didn’t really move me at all which makes me a monster, so I’ve heard.

I haven't even had a chance to watch it yet but from everything I've heard, yes it does. Lol. But everyone having different tastes is why I'm really curious about what some examples would be here, especially if horror isn't a favorite genre. I know I have been really upset by things in non-horror films, some of which others probably weren't very bothered by.
