I know I’m getting ahead of myself here, but I really hope we don’t have to wait till 2023 for another HGB record.
I really love this but it makes more sense as a summer album rather than a fall album. But the rollout kind of made it a summer thing.
Nice album overall, takes a while to kinda break from form though. Until "Close," everything basically sounds like one long song, but "Put it Out" is a really obvious standout. A fair amount of this album is somewhat... uneventful, but overall it's still a nice listen. Will be SUPER interesting to see how he brings these songs to life live
Im also interested in their new live show because this albums one of the cleanest sounding records from what i would call one of the sloppiest live bands I've seen
Went to the Brooklyn show last night. It was a last minute suggestion from a friend, I didnt know they were in town, didn't even know he put out a new album. Hot damn they sounded great, and the new songs are fantastic! I'm kicking myself right now for not picking up the vinyl on the way out. It was only $15 at the merch table.
Do you have any idea what the setlist looked like (or how it breaks down between each album?) Edit: Jk its already up on setlist.fm
going to see them tuesday night in LA/ very pumped for this setlist and that they cleaned up their live act.
Our encore was a lot different than the one on setlist.fm for that Philly show. For the encore Forrest came out solo, did mysterious you, and then took requests from the crowd. He ended up doing Dear Jaimiee, Shimmy Shimmy, Baby It's Fact and Oh It is Love. There was one or two more songs after that but I had to leave (I'm an old fart and the show went passed midnight). Also, he did not seem too enthused to play Shimmy or Jaimee lol
encore should be something like Would It Kill You, Magic Hour, Swear You're In Love, Finding Something to Do. He hates doing old shit, rightfully so.
Had a lot of fun at the show last night. I like the mix of the setlist a lot. The encore he started with Mysterious You, then did some requests and closed it out with Coppertone (which was a really nice surprise) and then ended with Finding Something To Do, so the last one-two punch was pretty much my favorite two Hellogoodbye songs. New songs were a lot of fun too, I hope the album catches on a little more.
Ah I would love to see Coppertone and FSTD live. I think he closed with FSTD at my show too but I had to leave right before he started playing it. I've been absolutely obsessed with the new album. I hope he does another tour soon, this time I'll be more familiar with the set.
Ahhh hell yeah! So I haven't really been keeping up with their popularity in recent years. The show I went to was a 200 person capacity, but it was sold out. Was this supposed to be like an intimate venue tour, or are these just the sized venues he's playing now?
Our show was something similar. Idk the exact size of the venue but it's definitely one of the smaller options. I think it's more like this is supposed to be a rebuilding tour. I think if the spring tour's a headliner, he'll try to flex a little more and get in some bigger venues. It was interesting cus he mentioned people saying they were glad he finally came back, but then he said he's played here like every year, but honestly I don't think that's true. I can't remember ever hearing they were coming and not going. Hopefully there will be more touring going forward.
