Pre-Order Heavenward Gasoline Wish Something Real Be My Blues Supernova Tangerine Planned Human Combustion Pneumatic (Fly) Choke
Figured there may as well be a thread for this instead of just continuing to lump it into the Teenage Wrist thread. For the uninitiated, this is what Kamtin started doing alongside Chain Gang after leaving Teenage Wrist. Singles have all been pretty solid, should be a good record
I’ve said it many times and I’ll say it again; this project is what I imagined/hoped Teenage Wrist would sound like if Kam never left. Love it and preordered this the day it was announced :)
Man, these singles are really scratching the itch for me. All have been great. Can someone clear up the differences between Teenage Wrist and Heavenward? Is Kam the only operating portion of Heavenward or is there someone else from Teenage Wrist in the band as well? And Teenage Wrist is still all the same minus Kam now? Been trying to figure this out but there's no Wikipedia of it for small-brained me.
Kam left Teenage Wrist in 2019 to focus on his own material and is the sole member of Heavenward. Partly why they don't really do live shows yet/much. The same TW dudes (Anthony and Marshall) are still in TW except Chase (guitarist) was kicked for being a sex pest. Kam is still on good terms with them as far as I know but TW has no major involvement in Heavenward.
IIRC Marshall I think has either helped write or play on a few Heavenward tracks, and Kam is on a new track on the upcoming TW record
Yup - he Marshall played guitar on at least a few tracks and also helped writing too I believe. Kam left TW because he was sick of touring (which is why I doubt we will ever get a full on Heavenward tour) and I can’t really blame him lol. Dude is happily married and has a solid career in graphic design. He did a really good interview on a podcast here recently that went into it:
been a fan of Kam's stuff since Felt. one of my most anticipated this year. excited to spin it when i get back from vacation.
This record feels like a spiritual successor to Chrome Neon Jesus and I absolutely love it. Record is amazing and I can’t wait til my vinyl comes in.
Yeah, this album is special. I can already see it on my aoty list. I love Teenage Wrist and what they’re doing, but I’m glad we also got an extension of what Chrome Neon Jesus was doing. Both great bands putting out great music right now and I’m glad we get both sides of their creative output.
