I actually like this band musically (except they do have some bad lyrics sometimes) but their social media antics are…a huge turnoff. Hopefully they turn down the edginess on Twitter this era and I don’t regret giving them another chance (wishful thinking I know)
Such a weird interest with this band for the reasons above. I'd say I like about 20% of their total discography. But that 20% is really damn good and shows such great potential.
Anyone know who produced this? Just noticed that Feldmann is following them and liked their announcement post, which he typically only does for bands he’s worked with in some capacity.
This band rules and I am very excited for this. I was hoping that someone was going to post a thread. (I wasn’t going to after the events of the last one) I have a hard time believing anyone sees it as anything but a performance. the jersey pre-order is kinda sick ngl
Surprised this band has a thread here considering this very site is what introduced me to them and how shitty they are on Twitter, did that suddenly stop or something
never ever gonna get what people see in this band. one of the dirt worst faux-edgy tryhards out there. maybe if they knock that shit off I'll check this out on release but not holding my breath.
this is the most edgelord song they’ve ever written so if you’re trying to avoid that vibe look elsewhere
Not sure where the asshole narrative comes from. This band has better interactions with their fan base than pretty much all others in the scene. Been following them since their EP was released back in 2014, saw the internet persona develop, and can think someone could walk away with that vibe only if they entirely misread the bit and never took time to reassess. I also think this whole song is SUUUPER tongue in cheek and unserious. will admit that the lyrics are cringe on this one but the hook makes up for it. (Probably going to regret responding to this but the coffee is flowing a bit too hard this morning please be gentle lol)
The song is not tongue in cheek. It is played as tongue in cheek so that when they're criticized for it they can claim they were just having fun and their critics need to lighten up. It's a common tactic by people who behave in a similar way so they can continue to play the victim and claim their critics just don't get it. But yes, I think that brandishing and glorifying guns on social media, speaking out in support of rapists, using homophobic slurs, etc. are all asshole behavior. It's not just a bit and I don't really care that they treat their fans kindly - how someone treats the people who already like and support them doesn't really tell me much - when they're using their platform in ways that are actively harmful. And then getting pissy and writing juvenile songs about the backlash they deservedly received . . . no thanks. And I'm not attacking you for liking or listening to them, do you. I purposely did not quote you when I made my initial post so it would stand on its own. I want people who maybe aren't familiar with this band but check out the thread because they see it's active to know the band is maybe not the best one to support.
Im not going to make excuses for the better off incident. It was absolutely the wrong thing to do. I’m not sure if they ever retracted those comments, but they certainly did not perpetuate them after the event. That was 7 years ago. Since then, they have actively called out rapists and abusers within the scene and cut ties with bands that have actively caused harm (McCafferty and ATL are in my recent memory) I’m not aware of homophobic slurs, and I’m pretty sure this is a fabricated thought. I can’t find any occurrences with an advanced Twitter search. I’m indifferent about the guns aspect and feel they’ve strayed away from it during the previous EP and current album release cycle. (My thoughts on guns in general are nuanced, I’m pro-heavy gun control but also I feel that the LGBTQ+ community should feel comfortable with guns and arming themselves)
I really liked Out For Blood, and Pitch Black was probably their best song yet. But they seem quite inconsistent and their SM presence is very cringe. Happy for them to have attitude but they do come across like dickheads tbh. That said, I like this song. Seeing them at a festival this year so this is will be fun.
